Tatting



 
 
 
This is a little doily made from a Swedish pattern.  Many of the Swedish patterns are quite lovely. 
Although the color doesn't show up well, this is a yellow doily in a size 10 thread, I think.  I made this a long time ago. 
This tatted doily has a lighter look to it than some of the doilies because of the rows of rings without chains.  I think it makes a doily look quite fragile to have these rows of rings.
This was made a long time ago.  If I had it to do over again, I'd never make the roses three dimensional like this.  It's impossible to do the doily up really well, something that came as a surprise to me.  The chains that make the petals tend to twist.  This is about 12" across.
Here's a closeup of the rose tatted doily.  I think you can see that the petals get a little unruly over a period of years.
